Tonights Work

So its the second night that Hubby to Be is out doing a night shift :o( soooooo I thought I would get started on one of my two orders for glass photo frames.
I have had a request for Daffodills and Bluebells. Tonight I did the Daffs,

I only had one request from the client - and that was to have a ladybird in the corner!

So tomorrow night I have two Bluebell frames to complete, one to go with this order and another to be for a different client.

I also need to package up my Wedding Order as that is totally complete now and needs to go to its new home! x

I am absolutely shattered so I am off to bed now! Take advantage of having the nice big comfy bed to myself along with the tv remote!

The Birthday Pint from last night

So last night I mentioned that I hadd done a birthday pint glass but had  wait to speak with the client, well I can now show you!!
Its based along the lines of a previous wine glass that I custom made for a different client.

The Pint has a blue band around the middle, with silver beading along the edges. Silver writing reads 'Niki 30' within the band.....

And there is 'Half Empty' written below the band, and 'Half Full' written above.

A lovely quirky little pint glass x

Busy Night!! But Thrilled with the outcome!

Well what can I say, as soon as my girls went to sleep I was straight to work!! I have been a busy bee this evening. Not only have I watermarked some old pictures in my albums on my facebook page, but I have also completed my wedding order, and a birthday pint glass (which I cant show you yet until I have checked with the customer that its ok to show)!!

So lets start with my beautiful Wedding Order!!
I have absolutely LOVED doing this, my bride has been an absolute pleasure to work with and she has made the move into making this a business so much less stressful and scary!!

So, this is the complete set!!!
9 glasses all in all, 4 x large wine glasses for the ladies, and 5 x pint glasses for the gents.

Below are the 4 ladies glasses, The Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom, Bride and the Bridesmaid.

A close up of he Bride and Mothers glasses. The Brides dress design is copied to match the actual dress the bride will be wearing on the day.

And the Gents - 5 glasses, The Father of the Bride, Father of the Groom, Bestman, Usher and of course the Groom.
As the theme is Ivory and Gold all the glasses have ivory stems/bases with gold beading detail, and gold writing

Close up of the boys - their kilts are painted to match the tartan they wear on the day.

The Beautiful Bride and Groom, and on the reverse I have written some of the words to their first dance song. Just for that extra personal touch!! x

I can say 100% I have loved working on these glasses and with the Bride. I will be sad to see them go, but sooo happy that they will be making such a special appearance on the top table at the wedding!! I just cant wait to see the pictures!!

Well thats it from me this evening I am absolutely shattered - so I am off to bed before I fall asleep at this laptop!!

Night all x x

All about Birthdays and Love

Well I have had quite a few late night recently along with some busy days so apologies for not being on sooner to update you all.

Valentines Day is just around the corner, and I have been desperate to get some more bits added to my Valentines Day album on my Ruby's & Grace Unique Designs facebook page. I thought what could be more perfect than little personalised tealight holders!! To sit glowing in between two love birds and forcing heart shaped shadows out onto the walls - very romantic!

I just love the gentle glow they give off. With a personalised heart on one side and on the other is a personal message, on these one says 'Be My Valentine' and the other says 'Soulmates Forever'

I think they would be perfect for a top table at a wedding, or even as individual placement settings for the rest of the guests!!

I have had plenty of orders this week, which is fab!! The first of which was for a birthday Champagne glass, all I was told was that it was to be Red and Gold, and to have the words 'Happy 60th Nana, Love Izabella' on it. So I was given full rein to be creative and come up with something beautiful, What do you think??

With a red stem and a red 60 on the front, I highlighted the 60 with gold pearling detail. I came up with a swirly half heart design to add a bit of decoration and unique'ness.

And the back has the wording which was requested, with 'Love Izabella' written around the base! I am quite pleased with it - especially as its my first champagne flute too.

Among the other orders that have been coming in, I have been continuously working on my big Wedding order. I have pretty much completed the order now, just got some final details to put on the Bestmans glass and the Ushers glass too. My main job is to finish the Mothers glasses, one has been done in a floral design unique to Ruby's & Grace UD. What do you all think?? I have had to show the back as I don't want to show the front until the whole order is finished.

I cant wait for the order to be finished and for me to take some photos of the whole collection. And the thought of them having MY glasses on their top table on the biggest day of their lives just makes me want to smile from ear to ear! I just hope that my lovely bride sends me some pictures of all the glasses set up on the big day! x

I love Tulips!!

Well I have to say my ultimate favourite flower is a white avalanche rose, however a tulip will come in at a very close second!! There is just something about their vibrant colours, clean tidy lines and beautiful curvy shapes! I remember going to Amsterdam as a teenager and seeing the flower markets FULL of every kind of coloured tulip you can imagine, as an art student I was in awe. And they remind me of my mum, and being a kid, living at home etc.

For some reason I was inspired by tulips tonight for a lovely little frame I have had sitting in my 'office/studio' for a while, I dont know why this is, maybe as I have had a lovely afternoon playing with my girls (and hubby to be) on the lounge floor, filled with giggles, and plenty of hugs and kisses I really felt for the first time a mumsy mum! But then it maybe that I feel a lot more adult recently - since New Year I seem to have adopted a whole new outlook on life - I have started drinking coffee, eating Special K cereal, and loving Ryvitas! All very grown up!! (lol x)

I love what I have done, the colours are bright and vibrant and the pattern is just enough to not overpower the simple elegance of the Tulips themselves!! I might just have to pop a picture of my two cheeky monkeys in this frame and keep it for myself! x

All about the Birthday Glasses

Tonight I have completed another Birthday glass order. I was asked to design an image of a much loved family flower, this was the picture I was given:
I was asked to do one flower with one stem coming down, so I came up with this based around the photo,

And on the reverse is written 'Happy 80th Grandad x'

I am pretty pleased with this as I think it is really different to any glasses I have seen before. I just hope 'grandad' likes it!!

I was planning on working on a Mothers Day item tonight too, but the evening seems to have run away with me and I have had to take a break and come to watch One Born Every Minute. I love that programme and it makes me realise what a miracle babies are!! So I'll be reaching for the tissues soon!! x

Tonights work

Well tonight I have been working on an urgent order for a lady who asked for a 60th Birthday glass for her mum.
Looking at this picture I am feeling like the 60 needs to have more of a black outline to it!! mmmmmmmmm!! Bear with me........... **totters out to my 'office' and back again**

Right how does this look, only slightly different but I think it makes the world of difference!!

One thing you'll learn about me is that I am a perfectionist!! x

Now off to bed x

New logo and hectic days

I have a new logo ...... and I LOVE it!! I have an amzingly talented cousin who has created this beautiful logo for my by business, including finely tuned copies for business cards, business stickers and my facebook page! Isnt it beautiful!!
When I knew I wanted to start this business there was no doubt in my mind of how I wanted the name and theme to be. I love everything vintage and knew that I would need to convey some kind of vintage styling to not only my branding but also my products, if its from the 1920's or the 1950's i'm automatically in love! I also knew I had to name the business after my two beautiful little girls.

Ruby is my eldest - she is a petite little two and a half year old, with bags full of energy and a whole range of vocabulary which she continues to expand on everyday - the description chatterbox would sum her up perfectly. She is kind and gentle and loves to have plenty of cuddles as well as taking after mummy with her art.

Grace is my youngest, at 5 months she is a bouncing baby full of smiles for mummy every morning! We are all still getting to grips with going back to 'baby' stage but she is the final missing piece that my fiance Matt and I were looking for. She is extremely demanding and has become exceptionally clingy to me recently so finding time during the day for my glasses, housework or anything else really, can be quite tricky. But she is so perfect in all other aspects, and so beautiful too - I could gaze into her big brown eyes all day!

So most of my days are packed with things for little people, like playdoh and Toy Story, nappies and bottles, then come the evening I have to evenly split my time between my gorgeous fiance Matt, planning our wedding which is in August this year, and of course the business. No rest for the wicked they say!

My plan for this week is to complete the two orders I currently have, get back to all the lovely enquiries I have had, and leaflet drop my village! I managed to design some (very basic) flyers and am planning to post them through all the doors in my village to get some extra publicity and hopefully some more orders for valentines and mothers day!

I do paint other items other than glasses, how about these matching frames!?

 Wish me luck!!

Monday 9 January 2012

Oooooh what a happy morning!

Good morning!!

Well I have woken with a smile this morning, not only have I woken up to two brand new orders, but I have also managed to create my new business cards!! Soo exciting!!

I have a fabulous cousin who is qualified in Graphic Design and has been very kind to me and created a fantastic logo and images for my business cards etc!! I am not very good with computer design, I am much better suited with brushes and pens in my hands.

I am off to the shops today to get more supplies so I can complete my new orders - got to take the little monkeys with me tho - which always proves interesting hee hee!

I'll try and post again later when I have had a chance to get some more glass painting done x x x

Enjoy your day,

Tonight its all about LOVE

Tonight I have been working on some Valentines Day wine glasses, I was inspired by a packet of Love Hearts my daughter Ruby had and thought what better way to tell someone you love!! So this is the outcome!!
Two glasses, one with I LOVE YOU, and the other with KISS ME, in sweetie pastel colours
On the reverse is a personal message, the I LOVE YOU glass reads 'My Soulmate x' and the KISS ME glass reads '......QUICK!!'

So retro and a lovely cheeky little gift from one to another! x

Fresh New Start to a New Year

Hello,

Welcome to my new little blog where you can keep up with all my work and maybe a little bit of my hectic life thrown in for good measure too!!

I found my love for glass painting way back when I was at Ar college, and never really applied my skills to it untill November last year. Two of my friends were getting married and I was racking my brain trying to think of what present I could get them that wasnt a voucher, toaster or dinner service! An all of a sudden handpainted wine glasses sprung into my head!
Now since it had been almost 11 years since I was at college I was a little apprehensive, but as soon as I dug out all my old bits and pieces everything fell into place and I started creating!! And this was the outcome:
With their names in the hearts, the date around the base and the poem 'The Art of Marriage' which was read during their ceremony written accross the back of the glasses I was rather impressed with myself. From then on the business seems to have taken on a life of its own.
Within a few hours of putting pictures up onto my facebook page of these glasses I had my first enquiry, for a set of top table wedding glasses!!! Couldnt believe my luck!!
And then the Christmas Tables glass orders, with the odd birthday one thrown in, to the Valentines day ones I am doing now!

I LOVE my new little business, and I love the fact that people love my creations!! Here are a few pics of some of the bits I have created already!

 Christmas Table Glasses
A christmas present for my lovely little sister
And I promotional glass for a fellow crafter as well as a glass for Mothers Day x
